David Tester earned degrees in computer science from North Carolina State University and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with a concentration in artificial intelligence. He then earned advanced degrees in philosophy from the Universities of Edinburgh and Oxford. His Oxford doctoral thesis looks at how to apply cognitive science and neuroscience within philosophy and in particular within ethics and political philosophy. As a Greenwall Fellow, he plans to explore how current research in moral psychology bears on theories of health and social justice.
