Ariella Messing (PhD Student)
Ariella Messing is a doctoral student in Bioethics and Health Policy and a recipient of the Sir Arthur Newsholme Scholarship. She received her BA in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania in 2012. During her time at Penn, she worked as a research intern at the Penn Center for Bioethics and the Center for Vaccine Ethics and Policy. After graduation, Ariella worked at Action Research Partners, where she assisted in research, evaluation, and analysis of the child welfare system. Ariella’s research interests include sexual and reproductive health policy, LGBT health, organ donation, US food policy, and incentives for drug research and development. In particular, she is interested in studying gaps in access to abortion care and the ways grassroots activists are organizing to find short and long term solutions to these barriers.
