Position Description:

The Research Program Coordinator will work with bioethics/public health faculty to coordinate and manage an NIH-funded project related to informed consent in clinical research.

The primary duties and responsibilities of the job:

This project is examining simplified ways of conducting informed consent in clinical research, and as such is working with investigators and participants from several different Johns Hopkins research studies where these simplified informed consent strategies are being implemented and evaluated. The coordinator will manage all day to day tasks related to the project including recruitment and interviewing of subjects, data handling, management, and basic analysis, interaction with the Institutional Review Board, management of confidential project electronic and paper files, and participation in drafting of manuscripts. The coordinator will work closely with project investigators to manage work flow and required tasks. The coordinator also will assist with other miscellaneous research assistance tasks including literature reviews, manuscript editing, and assisting with pilot projects.
 

Bachelor's degree required; Masters degree or work experience related to research strongly preferred.

Special skills and knowledge: Should have familiarity with how research projects run and, preferably, with topics of bioethics. Must be detail oriented, responsible, able to be self-directed and work independently and also to interact in a respectful way with different research participants and various investigators. Must be able to handle multiple tasks and keep track of deadlines. Should have excellent written and verbal skills; experience with manuscript drafting would be a strength. Should have library and online research skills as well as computer skills, including familiarity with word processing, data entry programs & research tools.
